4 Tips For Cleaning Small Mold Growth In Your Home

Mold can start to grow in your home for a number of reasons and the most common place you will find small mold growth is in the bathroom. This is why it's important to turn on the vents when showering and open up the windows if there are any in that room, as well. You can also find small mold growth in the laundry room if this room is not properly ventilated, as well. If you notice any small mold growth, you will want to clean it up right away with these four tips:

  1. Call the Professionals if You Have Asthma or Allergies: If you suffer from asthma or allergies, you shouldn't be cleaning up the mold on your own. This is because mold triggers these health issues as the pores enter your breathing air. So, no matter how small the mold growth is, you should hire professionals to clean the area.
  2. Wear a Mask: If you believe to be in okay health to clean up the small mold growth yourself, you will need to start by wearing a mask. This way, you are not breathing in the mold spores, which can affect your health even if you don't have health issues. Be sure to also wear rubber gloves so that your hands stay clean. Still be sure to wash your hands once you take the gloves off though and throw away the gloves, as well. Do not reuse them since they will already be contaminated with mold that can spread.
  3. Use Water and Detergent: The best way to remove mold is to scrub at it with water and detergent. When doing this, be sure to scrub it all off and let it dry. You can also use bleach, which will kill the mold, as well to help prevent it from returning.
  4. Throw Away All Cleaning Materials Used: On top of throwing away the gloves, you also need to throw away any towels you used to dry the area and the sponges, as well. If you attempt to reuse these in the future, they can spread the mold through the rest of the home. Don't attempt to clean these things either since this will just spread the mold to the sink, dishwasher, or washing machine. When you throw these things away, the best way to prevent the spreading of mold throughout the home is to double bag them and discard outside of the home instead of in any trash cans that you have inside.

When you utilize these four tips, cleaning up small mold growth in your home is going to be as effective as possible.
